Days 8-9: Chatsworth, Sheffield, Froggat Edge, and Bakewell

For our next adventure, Kerry and I took her mom's little Daewoo again (see the Larmer Tree pic with me in my poncho from Day 1 for a visual of the car) and drove north to Derbyshire. Our target was Chatsworth, the grand old estate home which served as the filming location for Pemberley in the more recent version of Pride & Prejudice. If you don't already know what Pemberley is, then you probably don't care, so I won't explain. If you do know what Pemberley is, then you can understand our excitement at being there. :-) Anyway, we toured the house and wondered around the garden and grounds, got lost in a hedge maze, and eventually got caught in the rain - perfect!
We stayed the night in Sheffield at Kerry's friend Ruthie's apartment. Ruthie made us chicken pot-pie and we watched Northanger Abbey in her living room.
The next morning, Kerry went to visit one of her professors from Bible College and set me loose on the hills in her rain jacket. It was wet and misty and beautiful. There were green fields speckled with wooly sheep on one side of me, rocks and ledges on the other, a gorgeous view of the valley below, and rivulets of water and patches of purple heather and ferns all around. My feet got very wet, but I couldn't have been happier or felt more in my element. The sun came out on the last half of my walk and I jogged back along the edge to my rendesvous point with Kerry. I don't think there's a better way to pass a morning.
To round out the adventure, we detoured through Bakewell to buy tarts from the Old Pudding Shoppe on our way back to Norwich.
